Consulting & Coaching
My consulting approach isn't defined by specific formats, topics, or techniques. The essence of my approach lies in my complete immersion and the pursuit of direct connection, whether with individuals, larger groups, or entire organizations. From this connection emerges a collaborative process, one that often surprises even me.
Ultimately, I always accompany people through their specific challenges and support them in navigating change processes in the most meaningful and healthy way possible. The form this guidance takes is part of our collaborative work. I never offer a one-size-fits-all approach, but rather work together with the client to determine which form of guidance and which aspect of my expertise best suits their individual needs.
Many a speaking engagement has later evolved into a workshop facilitation. Or conversely, a request to facilitate an event has turned into leadership coaching with scientific input. Or a methods training session has transformed halfway through into an intensive exploration of deep-seated identity conflicts and anxieties.
The ability to seamlessly switch between different roles and perspectives is central to much of my work. This page provides an overview of the forms and focus areas my consulting activities can take.
Leadership Consulting
I offer various consulting formats for people in leadership positions, both in person and online. My focus is on helping decision-makers gain clarity about their own leadership mindset, enabling them to develop a leadership style that suits them personally.
Besides my professional and methodological expertise, my greatest support often lies in offering leaders an honest and unbiased reflection. The more responsibility one carries, the less frequently one receives honest, non-judgmental feedback. I am often surprised myself by how many conflicts resolve themselves simply by listening attentively and making visible what I perceive in the other person, both rationally and emotionally. What then needs to be done usually becomes clear to the other person almost automatically.
Personal Coaching
Although I often perform on stage, listening is actually more in line with my nature. I am genuinely interested in the person I'm speaking to, and so far there hasn't been a single situation that I couldn't somehow relate to.
In my work with decision-makers, I've repeatedly observed how surprisingly lonely the path of leadership can be. Beyond all professional, methodological, or content-related aspects, I therefore like to incorporate deeper personal perspectives into my consulting work. At the same time, such topics don't always require a separate framework, but rather a process closely aligned with the respective core responsibilities and capable of delving into greater depth when appropriate and relevant.
I am therefore happy to accompany individuals over longer periods of time through a development process that includes questions of professional effectiveness as well as the exploration and transformation of their own emotional patterns.
transcultural communication
I personally love the diversity of cultures that our human civilization has produced, and I am constantly learning more about how my own family and cultural background shapes me and my thinking. At the same time, I constantly experience how many misunderstandings, painful conflicts, and friction arise when people from different backgrounds come together.
Against this background, I am happy to support people in overcoming culturally based misunderstandings and creating new meaningful experiences together.
While transcultural communication is, in a sense, a constant and integral part of my work, there are situations where the explicit focus is on addressing intercultural topics or events. A key area of my interest (and apparently also my talent) lies in the exchange of Chinese perspectives.
Initial and further training
A few years ago, someone asked me immediately after a successful strategy workshop: "Tell me, where can I learn what you do?" And when I started to consider which training courses I could recommend with a clear conscience, I stumbled. My understanding of process design and facilitation now combines so many different influences, both on a methodological-practical and a scientific-theoretical level. After a little reflection, I said: "You know what? If you'd like, I can train you myself."
Since then, I have found more and more joy and meaning in the targeted training of individuals, preferably with prior experience either as a leader in the classical sense or directly as a facilitator and process moderator.
Up to now, every training process I've conducted has been highly tailored to the individual who approached me. This is partly because everyone brings their own prior knowledge and preferences. Some are comfortable with academic language. Others primarily need methodological pragmatism. And still others are familiar with virtually all methods and need clarity in managing their own emotions or greater sensitivity to the feelings of the people they lead. Facilitative leadership in a government ministry necessarily takes very different forms than in a start-up. I am happy to accommodate these individual needs.
On the other hand, in my training process I always accompany the whole person in a process of inner growth and development. Leadership and facilitation cannot be separated from one's own personality. Depending on the level of need or desire to engage with this aspect of a training path, the training program I design takes on corresponding forms.
Just get in touch and tell me what you'd like to learn from me and why. We can discuss everything else in person...
Moderation & Process Design
Of course, it can be helpful for me, as an "external" facilitator, to take on a moderation or moderation role. However, it is often better, or even necessary, for the respective leader to guide a specific process themselves, with me merely providing support in the background during the process's design phase. Therefore, I am happy to support leaders in how they can conduct a particular meeting or event in a participatory or co-creative manner.
Following such targeted consultations, the desire often arises for more comprehensive organizational consulting or even personal training in co-creative leadership. Such transitions are certainly possible and don't need to be predetermined. I personally prefer to start small and see how fruitful a collaboration is before tackling larger projects.
I also occasionally moderate "classic" panels or events. To be honest, though, only for topics or occasions that I find genuinely interesting.
Reflection and Nature Hikes
I personally gain deeper insights primarily when I walk or hike. And it often takes a while before true clarity arises within me during the process of walking. Due to repeated requests, I now offer guided hikes and nature experiences as a framework for strategically reflecting on important questions together and finding new clarity. Those interested in a personal reflective hike are welcome to contact me so that I can work with them to create a suitable framework.
The other place where I find clarity is on the water. I've taken many people out on a boat to experience a different mode of reflection or inner clarity. Figuring out which place or mode is best for the person I'm working with to access their own clarity is often a crucial part of our work together.
